Historical Museum of the City of Krakow

The Krakow Museum is one of the most dynamic cultural institutions in Krakow and one of the separate museums in Poland. In line with its mission for over 120 years, it has been documenting and telling stories about Krakow by listening to the city.
The flagship facilities, recognized in Poland and around the world, are: Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory and the Underground Market Square. The Town Hall Tower, the Barbican, the Defensive Walls and the Old Synagogue are located in the most valuable historic buildings in the city.
The position and development of the Museum are the results of actions typical of all types of activities: exhibitions (assuming access and adaptation to the recipients), publishing and educational activities, within which Krakow traditions and customs are cultivated (Krakow Nativity Scene Competition, Lajkonik Parade). The effects of our activities are demonstrated through detailed, modernized museum effects containing permanent preparations, including: Krakow from the beginning, without end in the Krzystofory Palace, Krakow – the occupation period 1939–1945 in Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory.
The Krakow Museum is about activities with the local community, building bonds and community in the districts of Krakow, a place for meetings and discussions. A managing institution with numerous circles and publication organizations, from the Society of Lovers of History and Monuments of Krakow, to the local community, including: Podgórze Association. Many conference events and exhibitions are in cooperation with District Councils.
